Graduating from James Cook University in 2021, Dr Balakrishnan has built a strong foundation in various specialties. Over the past three years, she has gained experience in emergency, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, and palliative care rotations at Princess Alexandra, Queensland Children's Hospital and Mater Hospital in Brisbane.

In the last year, Dr Balakrishnan pursued specialized training in mental health at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital for six months as a psychiatry registrar. Her interests are in mental health and women's health.

Dr Balakrishnan values building strong, trusting relationships with her patients where she fosters a comprehensive and holistic approach. She is passionate about actively listening to patients to individualise management plans to collaboratively achieve the best health outcomes.
